Spain is a European country on the Iberian Peninsula, with 17 autonomous regions with diverse geography and culture. Madrid, the capital, is home to the Royal Palace and the Prado Museum, works erected by European masters. Segovia has a medieval castle (Alcázar) and an intact Roman aqueduct. The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona, features modernist monuments by Antoni Gaudí, such as the Sagrada Familia Church.
Spain is a good tourist destination all year round, depending on the type of activities you are looking for. The ideal months to visit are May, June and September, and also April and October in the southernmost regions. These are the best times not to take chances with the weather - and to avoid the extreme heat (in Andalusia it reaches 45 degrees easily in the summer months; and in Madrid in August it is unbearable and the city is almost deserted).
